All you music-lovers in the Asheville area: my special Album Pre-Release Show is happening on Tuesday, Sep. 4, at The Grey Eagle. Show gets started 8ish. The band will include Andrew Heller, Jamie Dick, Kevin Kehrberg, and special guests. I’ll have a few advance copies of my album on hand, and I’d love for you to come celebrate with me!

I have wonderful news to share! My solo album, Old Light: Songs from my Childhood & Other Gone Worlds, is going to be released on a LABEL! I’m so lucky to be added to the small but mighty roster at 2nd Story Sound Records. The official release is September 4th. Yee hoo!!

About
Rayna Gellert grew up in a musical family, and has spent most of her life immersed in the sounds of rural stringband music, heartfelt gospel songs, and old ballads. After honing her fiddle skills playing at jam sessions and square dances, Rayna fell into a life of traveling and performing. Her fiddle albums are widely celebrated in the old-time music community, and she has recorded with a host of musicians in a variety of styles – including Robyn Hitchcock, Tyler Ramsey, Sara Watkins, Loudon Wainwright III, John Paul Jones, and Abigail Washburn. From 2003 through 2008, Rayna was a member of the acclaimed stringband Uncle Earl, with whom she released two albums on Rounder Records and toured like mad. In 2012, Rayna released her first vocal album, Old Light: Songs from my Childhood & Other Gone Worlds, on StorySound Records. She is currently touring with songwriter Scott Miller as well as with her own band. She lives in Swannanoa, North Carolina.

- Products I endorse (because I LOVE them):These puppies are unreal great. Designed and handmade with loving care in Weaverville, NC. The freakishly affordable Fiddle Mic is fabulous! Gorgeous, real acoustic sound.I have loved their Helicore fiddle strings for ages - they cheerfully withstand all the retuning I do. My usual set is Helicore mediums for the G,D, and A, and a Kaplan "non-whistling" E. Highly recommended!When a gig calls for plugging in, this is the way to go. I have their bridge pickups on my fiddle & viola, and I also use their lovely Venue preamp. They rock.
